AYURVEDA DAY 17.10.2018
The ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and
Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) observes Ayurveda Day
on October 17 to promote the Indian system of medicine and
treatment. In this regard The Airports Authority of India (AAI),Minambakkam
planted herbs, shrubs and creepers in our school premises on October 17 to mark
National Ayurveda Day. The students of class XII were involved in this
programme.
Herbs and spices were being used since ancient
times not only to improve the flavour of edible food, but also to
prevent and treat chronic health maladies, the beneficial effects of which
were encouraging.
Propagating this idea with the theme “Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat” was the motto of the program.

The students were given instructions around
9.45am on how they go about planting the herbs. A small plot was made ready and
around 250-300 saplings were kept ready towards the main gate on the left side.
The students were given caps and ready by 10.00am near the plot. Exactly at
10.05 a whistle was blown and the students were actively involved in planting
the saplings.In 4 minutes the task was completed. Herbs like Cardiospermum,
Coleus, Vinca, Phyllanthus, etc were planted.
Students enjoyed the program and took part
with great enthusiasm as they needed a change from monotonous studies.AAI were
also kind enough to give refreshment to the students which was highly relished by
the students.
This
herbal garden will be taken care by nature club students by giving names and
writing the uses of the plants.
