KARGIL DIVAS


                                     KARGIL DIVAS 

On 26th July 2019, the Kargil divas were celebrated in Kendriya Vidyalaya Minambakkam in the honour of the Kargil war heroes. On this date, in 1999 India gained victory in the Kargil war fought against Pakistan. The event was honoured by the presence of the lieutenant-general  Shri Suraj Nair as the chief guest.
The programme began with a patriotic song sung by class 11 children. It was followed by a speech on Kargil by Srivatsan of class 11-A. Lokamitra and Shruthi of class 11-B wrote letters about the Indian army and presented it to the chief guest. The children of the Vidyalaya prepared greeting cards as a token of affection and gratitude to the brave soldiers.
The lieutenant general Shri Suraj Nair addressed the children. He started by giving first-hand details on the Kargil war. He explained the conflict between India and Pakistan. He acknowledged students about the difficulties faced by the army men and how bravely they tackle it. He mentioned about the different soldiers who were honored with the ‘’Param Vir Chakra’’.  He advised the children to respect their parents, teachers, and soldiers. His words inspired the young minds of the Vidyalaya.
 The principal  Mrs.  Chitra  Mukundan expressed her happiness on the success of the program.
